The Top Reasons That Podcasts Are Essential For Brand Awareness
Photo by Jonathan Farber on Unsplash
No matter what industry your brand or company is in, it is critically important to take different avenues of communicating with your audience in an effective way. As technology continuously evolves, numerous ways of communicating with potential customers are always being created to help reach out to people and grab their attention to what your brand or company is doing.
Having this understanding, podcasts are an innovative outlet that aids businesses in building fruitful connections with their audiences. As podcasts are growing a lot of momentum in the creative space, it has been reported that there are over 30 million episodes of podcasts since April 2020. Further research indicates that 24% of people in the United States listen to podcasts at least once a week which has gone up by nearly 10% over the course of a year !
Podcasts have the ability to turn even the most obscure and mundane topics into an engaging learning experience that people become intrigued about. This medium isn’t going anywhere due to the popularity of connecting audiences together about varying topics.
Through this continued growth, there’s enough room at the table for you to launch a podcast and reach success. Check out the reasons below to see why launching a podcast today will benefit your business in the long run.
Personalized experiences
Not only does your audience get to hear the way you speak, but the ideas are now brought to life in terms of verbalizing thinking patterns about the subject at hand. Being able to hear a voice behind these ideas is great in providing a personalized experience for your audience as well as allowing them to understand you on a deeper level. At times when you're just writing, people can't tell what emotions or tone of voice you're trying to use to convey a message. Hearing a voice is really helpful to indicate wit, tone, and amusement as you connect with your audience in a way that is seemingly as intimate as having a conversation with your friends.
Gaining audience attention
People check into things that are easier to digest because they don't want to dwell on a text for too long if it's on the lengthy side. This is why creating a podcast for your company or brand is important because it allows you to engage with your audience for a longer time frame.
On a day-to-day basis, people are used to having conversations with people in their past, and a podcast is very much like this conversation. It allows the audience to get used to different voices which will help to visualize what is going on. Incorporating anecdotes as a narrative spin into your podcast as you deem fit will help your audience get to know you better as a person and tune into the context of your podcast.
Building and maintaining network connections
Just like just posting for a blog or any other platform, you can use your podcast to feature guest speakers to share thoughts, expertise, and overall experiences on a given topic. Inviting these guest speakers is a really great way to expose your audience to industry experts within the topic. Furthermore, guest speakers are important to help build a network of connections because there’s a very likely chance that they might invite you on to their show for a conversation. This will not only expand your brand awareness but it will also expose you to new audiences within your niche.
Always have a plan when you decide who should be on your podcast. This can be done by creating a list of anybody that is interesting, engaged, and knowledgeable within the field and reach out to as many of them as you can. In addition, ask them why you feel like they’d be a great fit for your platform and also make sure that they’re okay with you having a smaller audience (more often than not they will be inclined to be a part of it).
Financial opportunities
When you create content that is true to your brand and company while keeping the audience in mind, you create an organic audience of listeners who enjoy the content you’re putting out without feeling forced to listen to it. While knowing who you are catering to, creating content that is relevant to your target market’s interests won’t pose any difficulties because you have all of the insight that is necessary to pinpoint these needs. Some of the ways you can earn money are as follows: you can create advertisements that will allow listeners to check out different services and products that are relevant to their needs, or you can charge sponsors to be featured on your podcast so that way they’re getting exposure from your audience. If you have products or services of your own, you can promote them on your platform by explaining the usefulness.
Becoming a leader in your specific industry
If you’re able to gain a lot of network connections and listeners, you will be recognized as an expert in your industry. People will look to you for advice, opinions, and thoughts on the industry. This will also allow other people who have not previously known about your platform to check out your podcast. Actively curating fresh ideas, storytelling, and specified content into your podcast provides more of a dynamic element to your platform — covering all of the areas of your podcast in a fun and captivating way that your audience will continue to support.

Why Are Podcasts An Essential Medium In Communications? The Scoop
Photo by Jonathan Velasquez on Unsplash
It has been suggested over the years that the origins of the podcast came on to the scene in 2004 with MTV personality Adam Curry (the show was called the Daily Source Code) and the help of Dave Winer, the software developer behind RSS and the Morning Coffee Notes podcast . Although unique, the new medium of communication didn’t become readily popularized by the world at that time. Why? Many people saw podcasts as the amateur version of syndicated radio and often wondered what the purpose of listening to audio files of people talking for hours at a time meant.
Over a decade later, the expectations of podcasts have increased in both the quality of the audio and the popularity among listeners. With that, it was reported in 2019 the 51% of Americans aged 12 and older have listened to a podcast in their lifetime. This is over 140 million Americans (roughly half of the population) which is astronomical. How did podcasts eventually end up becoming game changers in the communications realm today? What makes it a unique medium?
People tend to look at the world through a narrative lense which often leads to enjoyment in stories. This lense then becomes more informal, personal, and authentic in presentation which is very charming. It’s definitely safe to say that people desire the companionship of another person talking to them over artificial intelligence. In addition, while podcasts can be informative or news oriented ( The New York Times The Daily podcast) , podcasts can also be used to emotionally engage and entertain.
Circling back to the revolution of podcasting, certain elements of podcasts seemed less than groundbreaking when it first emerged: basic technology, easy to distribute , and cheap to make. All someone needs to produce a podcast is internet connection, recording software or app, and a microphone. What makes this so intriguing, however, is that these same distinguishable traits of a podcast are what made the rise of the podcast inescapable.
The development of podcasts further has been studied in terms of experimentation, and the congruency that it has on trends such as 20th century seasoned radio shows, modern radio talk shows such as Politico’s Women Rule , and the digital music movement on platforms such as Spotify, iTunes, and Soundcloud. Podcasts host a plethora of topics ranging from nonfiction narrative, politics, gossip, pop culture, beauty and television show discourse.
All in all, podcasts will and continue to thrive because they allow people to take in really powerful and enigmatic stories- ones in which the imagination can be stimulated , learn about new topics or listen to topics that generally peak common interests.
As listeners, we couldn’t be more grateful for a medium like this. Podcasts are essentially perfect to target these personal preferences in an intimate way even if other obligations arise throughout the day. It’s just like talking to a dear friend about what’s on the mind , passions, and society unfiltered.

We serve many audiences, but we can speak with one voice. One voice that does not mince words and demands justice. We created this simple PSA for podcasters or any content creator to post and share in hopes that we can come together across digital spaces to support the work of activists on the front lines of change, who risk themselves daily to create a better world for us all.
Please join us in using your voice to take a stand and encourage action at this critical time by issuing the following statement on your podcast or other digital platform(s):
We are (podcasters/bloggers/youtubers/influencer/etc.) united to condemn the tragic murders of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor and many many others at the hands of police. This is a continuation of the systemic racism pervasive in our country since its inception and we are committed to standing against racism in all its forms.
We believe that to be silent is to be complicit.
We believe that Black lives matter.
We believe that Black lives are more important than property.
We believe that we have a responsibility to use our platforms to speak out against this injustice whenever and wherever we are witness to it. In creating digital media we have built audiences that return week after week to hear our voices and we will use our voices to speak against anti-blackness and police brutality, and we encourage our audiences to be educated, engaged, and to take action.
Here are three ways podcasters and content creators can participate:

How coronavirus is changing podcast listening
by Dave Zohrob · April 01, 2020
The coronavirus pandemic has disrupted our routines and changed how we consume media. Netflix and YouTube streaming has grown so much that they have to limit bandwidth. Video game live-streaming is way up. Spotify music streaming, on the other hand, has gone down. So—how has the pandemic changed how we listen to podcasts? Voxnest and Acast report downloads trending upward during the pandemic. Podsights reported downloads staying essentially flat, while Podtrac showed downloads and audiences trending slightly down. Focusing on podcast downloads, however, misses a key element of podcast listener behavior—actual listening.Podcast publishers and advertisers trust Chartable to analyze and aggregate many different kinds of data. We see over 530 million IAB-certified downloads a month through our analytics prefix from over 7,000 podcasts. On top of this download stream, we also aggregate listening data from thousands of publishers from both Apple Podcasts Connect and Spotify for Podcasters. By looking at these datasets together, we’re able to shed a bit more light on what listeners are actually doing with the podcasts they’re downloading.

Why You Should Ignore All That Coronavirus-Inspired Productivity Pressure by Aisha S. Ahmad 03. 27. 2020
Among my academic colleagues and friends, I have observed a common response to the continuing Covid-19 crisis. They are fighting valiantly for a sense of normalcy — hustling to move courses online, maintaining strict writing schedules, creating Montessori schools at their kitchen tables. They hope to buckle down for a short stint until things get back to normal. I wish anyone who pursues that path the very best of luck and health. Yet as someone who has experience with crises around the world, what I see behind this scramble for productivity is a perilous assumption. The answer to the question everyone is asking — "When will this be over?" — is simple and obvious, yet terribly hard to accept. The answer is never.
Global catastrophes change the world, and this pandemic is very much akin to a major war. Even if we contain the Covid-19 crisis within a few months, the legacy of this pandemic will live with us for years, perhaps decades to come. It will change the way we move, build, learn, and connect. There is simply no way that our lives will resume as if this had never happened. And so, while it may feel good in the moment, it is foolish to dive into a frenzy of activity or obsess about your scholarly productivity right now. That is denial and delusion. The emotionally and spiritually sane response is to prepare to be forever changed.

Our Virtual MeetUp Agenda 03.26.2020
We are celebrating our one year anniversary today ! We have the launch of our website which will be announced at the end of the live.
What’s going on in podcasting ?
I have an article that talks about the shift in listener preference with the Pandemic currently changing everything. Important points made in the article :
We are seeing podcast listening reductions from 12%-20% reported by podcasters and hosting platforms.
The smart agent interactive platforms from Amazon, Google, Apple could be part of the longer-term answer along with increases in desktop listening again at home.
We need to be thinking of ways to enable increasing listening from home. More info click on article below.

What are we doing ?
This specific time in our life is a very difficult time for all of us! To say the least the creatives and curators of content are able to cultivate incredible work. I have a few pointers that can help all us keep creating and still. One of the things we can do to stay efficient is use Batch Content. We got our Information from this article ;
https://abranchofholly.com/blog/batch-create-content
Batch content Making multiple content to save or to distribute eventually. Creating more content in less time and with less overall stress, effort and procrastination!
Review your calendar and team’s schedule. Figure out how much extra time you have to create bonus content.
Block out time with you and your team to create regularly scheduled shows and at least one or more bonus episodes per week.
Creating content in an organized theme series . For example, one month we dedicated to podcasters: Women in Podcast, Podcast Conference creators & Film & podcasting branding . We created a whole month of content in advance that had a theme to it:
Create content at your scheduled creative time. But, make sure you know your creative time. If you're not sure, use different times or locations where you feel the most creative . Make sure to use your creative peak to make a list of ideas that work for you.
Set aside at least three or more days out of the week to send content updates on your social media platforms
Outline your ideas, have all ideas on deck and add all the ideas with a bullet.
Format and organize music logs, and production sheets for upcoming batch shows
Keep content for batch shows separate from other regularly scheduled shows and interviews.
Stay connected with your team to make sure batch content is being properly archived in a timely fashion.
Keep in contact with content batch interviewees.
Arrange alternative virtual interviews in the if and when necessary
Make sure you have more than one line of communication to your guest in the event the interview cannot be in person.
Try to schedule at least one or two additional podcast interviews to archive with your batch content.
Creative content through historical events for example what we are dealing with currently . Many of us are archiving some form of content to connect with the audience's current emotions.
Zencaster Lifting Limits for Hobbyist Users

A week ago none of us used the term "social distancing", but this is our new reality for the time being.
We know many of you aren't able to record your podcasts in person right now since you are self-quarantined. Or perhaps you're using your downtime to get caught up on your upcoming podcast episodes.
We want to help. That's why, starting immediately, there will be no limits on recording hours or participants for Hobbyist users. We'll keep this in effect through July 1, 2020.
We hope this brightens your days, and helps you continue to record and connect with others as much as possible even though you may be stuck indoors.
